33rd Infantry Regiment
From the "History of DeWitt County, Illinois - 1882"
This regiment was organized at Camp Butler, Sept 1861, by Col. Charles E Hovey and mustered into
U. S. service by Capt. T G Pitcher, USA. It was mustered out at Vicksburg Nov 24, 1865, and
ordered to Camp Butler for final payment and discharge. A few volunteers from DeWitt County
were in Companies "A" and "D".
